Some Clothes We Wore: Warm Winter Weather Style

Warm Winter Weather Style • AD Aesthetic

Here in Nebraska, we've been experiencing some rather unseasonably warm weather this winter, which gave us the perfect opportunity to photograph our warm winter weather style. I celebrated my birthday last weekend and it was a whopping 70 degrees outside! Generally around this time of year, we're lucky if it hits the mid 30s. While it's a little unsettling to see temps in the 70s during February, I can't say I didn't enjoy it. This past week has proven to be more of the same. Early in the week temperatures reached the high 60s, so Dawn and I decided to take a moment to enjoy the warm weather with a brief walk and outdoor photo shoot where we snapped a few style photos to share with you all.

On this particular day, we also happened to be taking part in an event for young designers put on by AAF (American Advertising Federation) Omaha. We spent the afternoon over at the University campus, where we met with several design students on the verge of graduation. We reviewed portfolios and did our best to impart the wisdom that only comes with the experience of actually working in the design field. At least, I hope I imparted some wisdom ;) Because we were hanging out with students all day, the look we were going for was professional yet approachable. Here's what we wore.

Warm Winter Weather Style • AD Aesthetic-1 My go to professional look almost always includes a button up shirt with a nice collar. I opted for a light chambray version with subtle polka dots to bring in some pattern and fun. Over that I layered a cozy cardigan. I picked up this particular one from American Eagle, I love the style of it because it reminds me of the sweaters my grandpa once wore with it's wide shawl collar and large buttons. Of course, since I would be talking to design students, I wanted to show some love for print, so I topped off my look with our little CMYK registration mark enamel lapel pin. Warm Winter Weather Style • AD Aesthetic-7 Dawn opted for a classic look with jeans and a textured white blouse with eyelets. She embellished her look by bringing in plenty of fun accessories including her purple amethyst necklace and a bright clutch with a modern Southwest pattern. Mine are a classic Chelsea boot by Ariat in a rich, warm leather. I've never been much of a heel gal, so I always opt for a shoe with a flat sole. Dawn, on the other hand, loves a good heel, so she added some height with her tan suede Sole Society boots. However, as I'm writing this it's thundering and raining outside. Apparently it's supposed to turn to snow overnight and we're in for a blizzard tomorrow. *Sigh* ...only in the Midwest. *Ashley's signature Save Save Save Save Save
