A No-Sew 30 Minute Bench Makeover

If you've read our About Us page, you may know that Ashley and I consider ourselves brain-twins. Meaning that we have very similar styles, agree on most everything, and generally think alike quite often. While Ashley is my brain twin for sure, I actually have a real life body twin too. Haha, is that a thing? It is now. My twin sister's name is Dania, and while we look pretty similar, we have fairly different personalities and styles. Dania has a beautiful home that is decorated in a fun farmhouse cottage style with a mostly neutral palette, which I appreciate, but it's certainly a stark contrast from my very brightly colored home decorated primarily in an eclectic mid-century modern style. That being said, Dania is extremely talented at creating a very welcoming farmhouse vibe, and lately has been turning out some really amazing DIY projects, which I hope to share with you in the future. Today though, I thought I'd share a quick little 30 minute, no-sew furniture makeover she did recently that I just love! Dania snagged this little bench while the family was cleaning out some old furniture at her husband's grandmother's home. It was originally part of a sewing machine desk set, and it opens to hold sewing materials. So adorable, but it had definitely seen better days. She used a vintage grain sack she had on hand to recovered the seat. Because the grain sack was so thick, she didn't even have to remove the former seat cover. Instead, she just cut the new cover to size and used a staple gun to secure it to the seat. Then she sanded down the wood of the stool. Dania loves a rustic look, so she didn't worry too much about it being perfectly sanded. Finally, she used a white wax method (Annie Sloan clear wax with a very small amount of white paint mixed in) to seal the raw wood of the stool. The final product is so perfect, and almost unrecognizable. So good, right??
